We are interested in solar flare activity as this generates fluctuations in the solar wind which we record on our MT (Magnetotelluric) instruments supplied by GEOMAR. The recorded data tells us about the location of fluids in the Earth’s crust.

A recent magnitude 6.6 earthquake on the plate boundary between the Cocos and Nazca plates. This is most likely to be a strike slip fault.
